The hidden pressure on journalists
Nick Davies has been voted British Journalist of the Year, Reporter of the Year, and Feature Article Author of the Year for his investigations of criminality, drugs, and poverty. He is a regular reporter for The Guardian and among his previous publications are "White Lies" (about a racist miscarriage of justice in Texas) and "Dark Heart" (about poverty in Great Britain). His most recent publication from 2008 is "Flat Earth News" which is about Davies' searching inquiries into the origins of lies, distortions, and propaganda in the global media world. In it, he claims that journalism is on its way to becoming a "corrupt profession". The former editor of The Guardian described it as a "botch-up", while the former editor of The Times called it "trash". Even so, it has been a tremendous success among journalists and media consumers with 11 reprintings in three months. Nick Davies talks about the hidden pressure that prevents journalists from doing their job properly. Host: media journalist Marie Louise Sjølie.
